HALLINGPLAST: 1969 – 2009
Kåre Tragethon and Tov Skarpås founded Hallingplast in 1969 in a small hall made of corrugated iron in a little place named Kleivi (Norway) in the mountains. Tov Skarpås used to work with plastic pipes whereas Kåre Tragethon were a car mechanic with knowledge within fiber glass. Although they did not really follow the “typical course”, they were able to start Hallingplast by mainly producing water pipes from 20 to 200 mm which were sold to farmers, local authorities and building companies in the surrounding area.
During its 40 years of existence, the company has known a constant growth and today Hallingplast is well known worldwide, not only for its quality and its expertise, but also for its capacity of innovating.
Hallingplast still produces water pipes, but also gas pipes, electrical cables (fiber optic cables), and has developed its products within petroleum, fishing and road safety.
We are now far from the small hall made of corrugated iron, but the family spirit is perpetuated, and Hallingplast is still sitting proudly on its mountain…
